Legal Aspects of Investment in Agriculture

This presentation was part of the NCCR North-South Forum on transnational land acquisitions and rural development at ETH Zurich on 18 May 2010. It was designed as a follow-up of the symposium "Large-scale Investment in Agriculture and Land – Opportunity and Risk for Food Security" on 15 October 2009 convened by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the Federal Office for Agriculture and the FAO Committee Switzerland. The presentation was based on a co-authored paper on "Legal instrument to foster responsible investment in agriculture: a human rights, agricultural trade and investment law perspective" commissioned for the Global Study on Commercial Pressures on Land by the International Land Coalition.
