Short summary:

The current pandemic has underlined how, now more than ever, the lack of a gender lens and gender balance in the whole process of institutionalization of the emergency response exacerbates existing European gender divides. In light of current developments, the article provides some insights on the “gender equality and inclusion” area of action of the “Colao Plan”, adopted by the Italian task force to define the post-covid-19 economic recovery strategy. In doing so, the article considers how the pandemic presents an opportunity to challenge the status quo and to enable political and legal changes to reduce resilient inequalities.
