Tupoka Ogette – Together against Racism: Racism aware Thinking, Learning, and Teaching
Join us at the University of Bern for an enlightening lecture on "Together against racism: racism aware thinking, learning, and teaching" from Tupoka Ogette, followed by a discussion and apéro. This event will provide insights on how we can tackle unconscious forms of racism and exclusion through education and awareness.
Although racism affects all areas of Swiss society, it is not easy to talk about it. No one wants to be racist and yet we are all affected by "racist socialisation". Talking about racism and our own entanglement in systemic racism is an important step to fight racism. The lecture gives insights on how learning, teaching and living in schools and universities can tackle unconscious forms of racism and exclusion.
Tupoka Ogette studied African Studies and Economics at the University of Leipzig and now works as an educator critical of racism. Her book "exit RACISM - Rassismus-kritisch denken lernen" is a Spiegel bestseller.
