Joalane Lemao is a lawyer from Lesotho. She successfully obtained her LLB degree from the National University of Lesotho (NUL). During her degree, she was very active in many facets of her university life. Joalane was selected to represent NUL in the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition. There her team won two awards at regional level, in recognition of their strong writing and oral skills in WTO law. She also previously participated at the Model WTO simulation conference as a delegate.
Prior to joining the World Trade Institute, Joalane was a research assistant to an independent consultant, where she conducted research on Lesotho’s National Implementation of Southern African Development Community (SADC) Protocol on Trade in Services. She also served as a secretary to the Independent Continental Youth Advisory Council on AfCFTA.
Joalane is a regional representative and member of the Afronomicslaw Academic Forum Southern Africa- A forum that brings together students and early career researchers with an interest in International Economic law issues with regards to Africa and the Global South.
Her interests heavily lie on WTO Law, International Trade Law and Regional Integration.
