Nisay Heng, a driven young professional from Cambodia found her interests in International Trade while taking a course in International Law during her exchange program in the US. She graduated with honors and holding a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia, 2021.
Prior to obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree, Nisay Heng started her professional journey since the early stage of her study. In 2016, she worked for an international non-profit organization in Cambodia that focused on providing free education to underprivileged students as an External Relations Officer. Under the supervision of External Relations Manager, her main responsibility was to establish and maintain the NGO’s relationship with donors and partner organizations, and assisted students with internship and employment placement upon their graduation. She then took a slightly different rout in her career path and worked for an aviation company as a Cabin Crew to experience life from a different angle while supporting herself through her degree.
While balancing work and full-time degree, Nisay Heng was granted a scholarship to continue her study in the US, where she discovered the essential linkage between international affairs, and international economic resolutions, thus, fuels her interest in pursuing international trade with the MILE program at WTI.
In 2021, Nisay Heng was an intern in the US Embassy to Cambodia in the Economic Affairs Office where she conducted research, assisted Economic Affair Officers, and assisted business event organization. During internship, she also participated in educational video campaign such as International Women’s Day, and the Earth Day 2021 video campaign with Deputy Chief of Mission Ben Wohlauer to bring awareness to climate change and environmental challenges. Upon the completion of her internship, she was awarded by the U.S. Embassy the Outstanding Service Award. Then she was recruited by a well-established consulting firm where she worked as a Business Analyst on various projects ranging from private to government’s grant project to support Cambodian SMEs exports.
She also volunteered with Wildlife Alliance Cambodia in video campaigns that promote the protection of the Cardamom rainforest, and wildlife conversation in Phnom Tamao.
Nisay is looking forward to embarking her professional journey in the field of international trade, and international economic development in international organizations or private entities where she can continue to grow and utilize her skills and knowledge to make a difference.
As per leisure activity, she likes traveling, and her motive is to experience different cultures through food tasting.
