RenRu Ma was born in China, AnHui Province. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in law in China University of Political Science and Law, then he obtained his Master’s degree in Shanghai University of International Business and Economics in WTO law. During his Master studies, he was supervised by Prof. ZhangLei, the only chair in China of WTO Chair Programme at that time. His Master dissertation “Analysis of the Legitimacy of U.S. Carbon Tariff Policies under the WTO” was evaluated as an excellent paper at the school level. In his study, he not only focuses on the analysis of policies-makers, but is also concerned with how companies tackle this kind of trade policy.
Mr Ma's PhD is supervised by Prof. Peter Van Den Bossche and supported by the China Scholarship Council(CSC). His current academic interest is how international investment law can respond to today’s multilateralism in a declining world, as well as the jurisprudence of international law, such as the role of human morality in shaping the international consensus level.
