Yi Zhao

Yi Zhao was born and brought up in Shanghai, China. In June 2022 she obtained her bachelor’s degree in law from Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, the first WTO Chair in China, where she gained a certain understanding of international law. Yi has participated in several moot court competitions as an oralist such as the 2019 FDI moot court, the 2020 China WTO Moot Court as well as the 2020 John H. Jackson Moot Court competition, and gained several prizes. These experiences led to her interest in the field of international trade and investment law where she decided to continue her studies. Prior to joining the WTI, she did internships for Invest Shanghai and a law firm based in Shanghai in the field of Intellectual property law.
