Sarah Akpofure

Sarah is a native Nigerian who obtained her LLB Honours degree from the University of Birmingham. She has also completed a Micromasters in International Investment Law course from the University of Louvain, Belgium. The course gave her a foundation in international economic law which prompted her to further study international economic law at her university. She wrote two academic research papers on a comparative analysis of international economic dispute settlement systems and the impact of IMF and World Bank policies on developing countries. Her interest and research in this field led to her further study of international trade and investment law at the WTI.
Sarah has amassed experience in the legal field by working with an esteemed commercial law firm in London. She worked closely with the corporate tax and Real estate property law division where she prepared legal drafts for presentation before the UK Tax Tribunal. She is also an enthusiast of alternative dispute resolution and has achieved finalist position at Birmingham’s Negotiation competition. She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK (ACIArb UK) where she has honed her skills in international arbitration and negotiation in trade and investment disputes and has begun the International Arbitration pathway certification to enhance her LLM degree in International Trade Law. She is currently enrolled in the TRAIL+ LLM program, after which she aims to embark on a career in the field of international trade Law.
During her spare time, Sarah enjoys writing and has contributed several articles to an online law blog and the online publication of University Law review magazine. She also enjoys traveling and discovering independent cafés wherever she goes.
