Karolis joined the WTI as a PhD researcher under the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research Trade Regulation project in 2014. He successfully defended his PhD on transit rights with a particular focus on energy from renewable sources in March 2017. Karolis previously worked as Professor’s Assistant at the Institute of International & European Union law at Mykolas Romeris University. He gained his main legal experience at one of the leading Baltic States dispute resolution law firms Motieka & Audzevicius and the European Commission Joint Research Centre Institute for Energy. He has a Master’s Degree in European Union Law from Mykolas Romeris University, and a Postgraduate Diploma in European Union law from King’s College, University of London. In addition he studied international law at the University of Iceland and attended Summer Academy courses at the WTI.
