Roberto Claros has a Master’s degree in International Economic Law (summa cum laude) from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) and has undertaken Master’s studies at the Institut d’Études Politiques (Sciences-Po Paris). He obtained his LLB from the PUCP Faculty of Law, where he was in charge of the Research Team of International Law and Human Rights and founded Ius Inter Gentes, a Students’ Association dedicated to organising academic activities and to publishing a Journal of International Law since 2004. He also has been Assistant Professor of International Law at PUCP University. Until October 2013 and for more than five years, Roberto worked at the Legal Advisory of the Specialized Cabinet of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru. During this time, he participated in the legal scrubbing of the FTA between Peru and Mexico, the FTA between Peru and Panama, the FTA between Peru and Costa Rica and the FTA between Peru and Guatemala. He also engaged in the meetings of the Working Group of Senior Experts Dispute on investment of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) which pursues the creation of a Centre for Settlement of investment Disputes. Roberto  joined the WTI as a PhD researcher, under the SECO Project which supports development of Regional Competence Centres for Trade Law and Policy in Peru, South Africa and Vietnam. In 2011, he also was granted a scholarship from SECO to enroll in the Summer Academy at the WTI.
