Evelyn Umudi hails from Delta State and lives in Lagos, Nigeria. She obtained a Bachelors of Law degree (LL.B) from the University of Benin, Nigeria, and thereafter was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2007 by the body of benchers as an advocate/lawyer in the Supreme Court of Nigeria. She had her compulsory court and law office internship with the Delta State High Court, Warri and A.B. Thomas & Co. respectively, both in Nigeria. She also holds a proficiency certificate in Management from the Nigerian Institute of Management. Over time, she studied with the Pan-African University Lagos Nigeria and has built her capacity in Communication Skills and Advocacy Techniques for Lawyers. Coming into contact with trade matters, she developed an interest in International Trade which led to her study within the Trade Policy Training Centre in Africa (TRAPCA) Arusha, Tanzania, where she obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate in International Trade and Development and certificates in International Trade Law and Development on other specialised courses. She has attended several trainings, conferences and seminars on issues such as Human Resource Development and Financial Risk Management. She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Association of Professional Negotiators and Mediators, and Graduate member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. As a legal practitioner, she practices law in the courts of Nigeria as well as working with a legal department of a financial institution in Lagos Nigeria (Stirling Trust Company Limited; a finance and investment company) that focuses on trade in financial services. Evelyn has written papers on Trade related opportunities for SMEs in Lagos and the benefits of international trade to Nigeria (unpublished). Presently, she has a special interest in international trade and development in services, issues of migration, and how to obtain full benefits from foreign direct investments in developing and less developed countries. She loves reading, travelling and learning new things that enhance her capacity, development and growth. She writes/speaks English fluently and speaks a little French.
