Karina Zaur, a native of Kazakhstan, obtained a Bachelor's degree in International Law from Kazakh Humanitarian Law University and in 2006, won a presidential scholarship from the Republic of Kazakhstan to study Public Administration at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she graduated in 2010. During her university years in the US she gained valuable international experience as vice-president of the International Students Association (ISA). Following her studies, Karina undertook a 3 month internship at the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) which promotes responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism. Karina was able to learn about the recent developments of this sector and the UN system in general. Karina has decided to deepen her knowledge of International Law and to pursue studies in Economics by joining the MILE Programme. She believes that this program will provide her with the necessary expertise to help build her future career. Kazakh is Karina's first language and she is fluent in Russian and English with a basic knowledge of French and German.
