Sainabou Taal leads the fisheries subsidies work at the World Trade Organization and has been servicing the fisheries subsidies negotiations since 2018. From 2014 – 2018, Sai was a Trade Policy Analyst in the Aid for Trade Unit of the Development Division of the WTO and from 2012-2013 she worked for WTO Deputy Director General Valentine Rugwabiza.
Prior to the WTO, Sai consulted for the United Nations Department for Economic and Social Affairs on "Building Institutional Capacity in Utilizing Trade-Related International Support Measures for LDCs". Sai was also a Trade Economist at the Gambian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Regional Integration from 2008-2011 where she negotiated bilateral, regional and multilateral Agreements and was the focal point for Aid for Trade, Services, SPS and TBT.
Sai holds an LLM from the University of Edinburgh, a Master in International Law and Economics from the World Trade Institute, and an Honours B.A in Economics from the University of Toronto.
