Patricia Arratíbel Siles graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree with honours from the Faculty of Law of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In 2010 she was awarded the Gabino Barreda Medal for attaining the highest average of the 2005 - 2009 student cohorts. Her final paper analysed Chapter XIX of the North American Free Trade Agreement. During her studies she received a diploma from the National Workshop on the WTO's Dispute Settlement System at the Ministry of Economy/WTO and worked as an investigative assistant at the National Council on Science and Technology (CONACYT) and as a research fellow at the Institute of Legal Investigation (IIJ-UNAM) in the fields of civil law, procedural law, consumer's rights and trade matters focused on private arbitration proceedings and litigation.
In July 2008, Patricia was appointed as Panelist Assistant on the Binational Panel under NAFTA Chapter XIX which reviewed the Final Determination of the Antidumping Duty Investigation on imports of certain red delicious apples and golden delicious apples from the United States of America (Case Number: MEX-USA-2006-1904-02). In January 2011, she took up her current position focusing on corporate law and international trade at Avaya Communication de México, S.A. de C.V. (AVAYA), a global leader in business communications in the area of contract international management. Patricia was granted a Swiss government scholarship to study at the WTI where she wishes to attain the necessary skills to take on the role of litigant, panelist or negotiator in the field of international trade regulation. Patricia is a Spanish native speaker with fluent English and basic French.
