Jonas Habich grew up in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. At the age of 18 he spent one year as an exchange student at a Mexican high school and used this chance to learn Spanish. After graduating from high school in Bern he attended a three month English course in Vancouver, Canada.
To gain some practical experience he joined the well known UBS Bank of Switzerland for the “All-round Internship”. This gave him an excellent overview of the inner workings of a bank as well as the different professions operating within a bank. After one and a half years he was awarded with a Diploma entitled “Banking and Financial Education for High School Alumni including the ECFB (European Certificate in Banking)” from the Swiss Banking Association.
The outcome was that Jonas decided to study Business Law at Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and he made good use of his Spanish language skills during one semester as an ERASMUS student at the University of Salamanca, Spain. He studied a number of courses related to international trade law and economics at ZHAW and at the University of Salamanca. Alongside his fulltime studies, he continued to work part time at the UBS, ending up in Equity Sales Trading within the Investment Bank and completing a three month internship there. His bachelor thesis focused on the brand new Swiss Book Entry Securities Act which has been in force since January 2010.
During his various stays abroad Jonas became familiar with different cultures and languages, learning German, Spanish, English and French.
In his spare time he likes sports, socializing with friends and travel. He is also a member of the Rotaract Club of Bern and a board member of the Comité Rotaract Suisse/Liechtenstein.
