Julia Gubler

Julia Gubler is a PhD candidate at the World Trade Institute, researching the intersections of trade and climate policy with the SNSF-funded CLIMTRADE project under supervision of Prof. Manfred Elsig.
Prior to joining the WTI, Julia gained professional experience with the trade team at the Swiss State Secretariat on Economic Affairs, worked for a climate adaptation project in the Andes for Helvetas Peru and analysed trade in critical minerals for the International Institute for Sustainable Development in Geneva.
Julia holds a master’s degree in International Governance and Diplomacy from Sciences Po Paris, where she completed her thesis on climate change provisions in EU trade agreements. She has also collected extensive research experience as an assistant with the SNSF-funded project “nccr on the move”, building a dataset on migration provisions in preferential trade agreements (MITA). Julia completed her undergraduate education in International Relations at the University of Geneva.
Julia is passionate about trade policy, climate action and sustainable economic development.
