Mr. Putu Prima Apri Swajaya

Apri Swajaya is a candidate for the MILE 24 program at the World Trade Institute (WTI). Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, and raised in New York, USA.  Apri has cultivated a diverse professional background, beginning his career as a journalist for a start-up media company before transitioning into the banking sector in Indonesia. Later, he took on the role of Business Consultant for the Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Promoting Rural Incomes through Support for Markets in Agriculture (AIP-PRISMA), an Australian-funded project aimed at improving the incomes of smallholder farmers in East Indonesia.

Before enrolling in the MILE program, Apri served as the Consumer Protection Officer at the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) in Jakarta. In this role, he worked closely with the ASEAN Committee on Consumer Protection (ACCP), a working group comprising representatives from consumer protection agencies of all 10 ASEAN Member States. Apri’s responsibilities included coordinating meetings, organizing workshops and conferences, and overseeing the research and review of draft guidelines for the ACCP. In addition, he frequently spoke on behalf of the ACCP at public forums, highlighting the ACCP’s priorities, deliverables, and key achievements.

Apri holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin University, Australia, and has a strong interest in agriculture and consumer protection, with a particular focus on sustainabile consumption and the social impacts surrounding these issues. Beyond his professional interests, he is a history enthusiast, an avid road cyclist, and a lover of philosophy and astronomy. His curiosity about the universe and its complexities fuels his imagination, making him both a deep thinker and a dreamer.
