Wardi Zaman is a Bangladeshi Lawyer and an accredited Mediator of the Bangladesh International Mediation Society. She pursued her Bachelors and Master’s in Law from Bangladesh with the highest scholastic title: Summa Cum Laude. Wardi had the unique opportunity to represent her country Bangladesh in five international moot court competitions overseas as the winner of the national rounds of the Phillip C. Jessup (in 2017, 2018 and 2019- three times in a row), U.S.A., Henry Dunant (2015) in Pakistan and Asia-Cup (2018) in Japan, International Moot Court Competitions. Being the Best Oralist in the national rounds, her team received the ‘BEST New Team’ Award in the International Round in Washington D.C., in 2018.

Wardi had the opportunity to diversify her work experience including in Global Trade, Intellectual Property, Environment and International Law in general. She embarked on her professional journey as a junior legal practitioner at a Bangladeshi Law Firm dealing with the matters of the Supreme Court of her Country. As a Legal Researcher at the Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (NGO), she gained experience regarding the pivotal nexus between trade and the environment as she undertook legal research and analytical work for public interest environmental litigations. One of her notable works include devising a policy guideline on 'Rohingya Volunteer Engagement and Code of Conduct' for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (for refugees residing in Bangladesh) as a Policy Consultant. In 2022, Ms. Zaman was selected to work for the Secretariat of the World Trade Organization as a Young Professional in the Intellectual Property, Government Procurement and Competition Division, where she gained hands-on experience about the functions of the Multilateral Trading System.

Wardi is a currently pursuing the Master’s in International Law and Economics (MILE) at the World Trade Institute of the University of Bern. She is interested in trade regulations and policies, WTO Law and Dispute Settlement.

Wardi loves to travel, paraglide, horse-ride and read classic novels.
