Environmental Governance: linking scholarship and practice
In the run-up to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development in 2012, the workshop on international environmental governance, held at the World Trade Institute, started a dialogue between academics and policymakers.
The World Trade Institute (WTI) at the University of Bern co-organized a workshop with the Federal Office for the Environment of Switzerland (FOEN) and the Center for Governance and Sustainability at the University of Massachusetts on international environmental governance. Forty participants from academia, national governments, international organizations and think-tanks attended the workshop on 27 and 28 June, 2011. The outcomes include a research agenda seeking to bring policy makers and academics in closer communication and collaboration and a new Governance and Sustainability Issue Brief Series.
