WTI faculty member delivers Brexit agriculture lecture in London
On 2 October WTI faculty member Christian Häberli delivered a Masterclass Guest Lecture to the UK Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), entitled ‘GB Agriculture: Climate-smart AND WTO-compatible?’.
The audience of over 100 showed a keen interest in the subject under discussion: whether post-Brexit British agriculture will fulfil its commitments under the Climate Agreement and within the WTO.
There was general agreement with Dr Häberli’s conclusion that global warming will not wait for a solution to Britain’s (or the WTO’s) present problems.
According to Dr Häberli, the invitation to the WTI from DEFRA serves as a good example of successful collaboration between academia and policy-makers.
