SNIS project workshop takes stock of first year
The output of the first year of a Swiss Network for International Studies (SNIS) collaborative project was discussed at a workshop held at the WTI at 9 December.
The project, ‘Diffusion of International Law: A Textual Analysis of International Investment Agreements’, examines the design, evolution and effects of the international investment agreements currently in place.
The workshop was divided into three parts: a stock-taking of the first year was followed by the presentation of research papers on the negotiation of investment agreements and the availability of their texts. The final part was a brainstorming on a roadmap for the future of the project.
The event was attended by researchers at the WTI, the University of Zurich (Institute of Computational Linguistics), the ETH Zurich, the German Development Institute (DIE) and the University of Oslo’s PluriCourts project.
The project is led by a team at the WTI including Professor Manfred Elsig, Rodrigo Polanco, Eddy Bekkers, Wolfgang Alschner, Valentino Desilvestro and Azernoosh Bazrafkan.
