Estimating the impact of Commonwealth membership on trade
WTI Senior Research Fellow Anirudh Shingal contributed to the Commonwealth Secretariat’s flagship publication on trade that was released in Malta last month.
He produced a background paper estimating the effects of Commonwealth membership on goods and services trade and was also a member of the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Technical Review Committee on this project.
On average, Commonwealth membership is found to increase goods exports by 18.5-33.2% and services exports by 42.8% in Anirudh Shingal’s empirical results that are both cited and referred to in this flagship report.
