WTI researcher to take part in EU migration meeting
Rosa Maria Losada, a research fellow and PhD candidate at the WTI, has been invited to participate in a meeting of the European Union-funded regional project on migration in the Euro-Mediterranean area, EUROMED Migration III.
The meeting will take place at the Dead Sea, Jordan, from 17-19 November.
Rosa Maria Losada, whose PhD is on Switzerland’s migration partnerships, will contribute to a working session that will showcase Switzerland’s experience on a coordinated (whole of government) approach on migration and inter-departmental coordination.
It is envisaged that a speaker from Bosnia and Herzegovina – which has a migration partnership with Switzerland - will also present at the session. According to the organisers, the idea is to show how a coordinated approach can facilitate cooperation between states while striking a balance between the interests of all parties involved.
The overall objective of the EUROMED Migration III project is to foster cooperation on migratory issues between the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) South Partner countries (Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia) and EU countries, as well as between ENPI South Partner Countries themselves. A key part of that is assisting partner countries in their efforts to strengthen their evidence-based and coherent policy-making capacities.
