WTI sponsors the fifth International Moot Court Competition at Gujarat National Law University (Gandhinagar, India)
The World Trade Institute is a partner and sponsor of the Gujarat International Moot Court Competition (GIMC) of the Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) as in previous years. The Annual Competition took place on the new GNLU campus in Gandhinagar from 6–10 February 2012.
The GIMC attracted competing teams from 42 universities from India and other countries such as Singapore, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The case was about the Zwoka Environment and Security of Children Act. Dr Christian Häberli from the WTI served as a panellist in the Moot Court’s Final Round. The other judges included professors and lawyers from large Indian firms, as well as Ms Victoria Donaldson from the WTO, Prof. Lakshmi Jambholkar, Executive President of the Indian Society of International Law and Mr Lakshmi Kumaran from Lakshmi Kumaran and Sridharan.
The WTI awarded the winning team from the National University of Singapore a scholarship to its upcoming five-week Summer Academy on International Trade Regulation, taking place from 8 July to 9 August 2013.
The communications officer Corinne Karlaganis gave a presentation on the WTI’s programmes to GNLU students. Dr Christian Häberli gave a lecture on the current situation of the WTO and India.
