Launch of CEDAW’s General Recommendation No. 40 on the Equal and inclusive representation of women in decision-making systems
Professor Elisa Fornalé attends the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) is the body of independent experts that monitors implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. The CEDAW Committee consists of 23 experts on women's rights from around the world.
Our team from the World Trade Institute at the University of Bern had the privilege of attending two significant events organized by the OHCHR that are making strides towards gender equality and inclusive representation. Elisa Fornalé, professor at the WTI, has been directly involved in this drafting process since the last two years as part of the SNF 'Gender in the Mirror (GEM)' project.
General Recommendation No. 40 on Equal and Inclusive Representation of Women in Decision-making Systems: This groundbreaking recommendation aims to ensure that women have equal and inclusive representation in decision making systems globally. The CEDAW Committee is working tirelessly to promote parity as a fundamental human right, and this recommendation is a major step towards transformative change.
