Fostering education opportunities in international trade and economic law
IKMAS, the National University of Malaysia partners with WTI
Delegation from the National University of Malaysia, Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS) signs Letter of Intent with the WTI, attends the World Trade Forum
Bern, Switzerland -- The Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS UKM), the National University of Malaysia and the World Trade Institute (WTI) signed a Letter of Intent for Collaboration to increase academic cooperation, opportunities to lecture, and high-level courses to enhance global network exchanges for trade professionals. IKMAS and the WTI intend to collaborate on professional courses in International Negotiation, Inclusive and Responsible Business and Investment (ESG), and International Trade and Investment.
Prof. Sufian Jusoh, Director and Professor of International Trade and Investment at the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS) and an alumnus of the WTI, says, “This agreement is an important step of facilitating dialogue between our Malaysian and ASEAN students and trade and investment professionals about the global state of international trade, investment, ESG and climate change and economic law. Our students and trainees will benefit from this collaboration with the World Trade Institute.”
The Malaysian Minister of Education, Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir, and delegates, attended the World Trade Forum in Bern, discussing present challenges in global trade and solutions for increasing transparency, education, talent development and how trade can be a leverage in the quest for economic accountability.
WTI’s Deputy Managing Director Prof. Manfred Elsig says, “Malaysia plays an increasingly important role in the international trade landscape, and we look forward to fostering this collaboration. This Letter of Intent demonstrates our commitment to educating together with IKMAS a new generation of trade experts in the ASEAN region and beyond.”
