Summer at the World Trade Institute
As Course three of the Summer Academy comes to a close, so does a packed week of Climate Change: Intellectual Property Law and Technology Transfer
From July 8 -12, lecturers imparted their broad knowledge to interested students.
The renownd founding father of the WTI Thomas Cottier was here. Along with Jayashree Watal, Andreas Heinemann, Kamran Houshang Pour and the WTI’s own alumni, Zaker Ahmad.
From the course syllabus: Effective climate change mitigation and adaptation requires the implementation of appropriate technologies in all countries concerned. Most of these technologies are protected by intellectual property rights, and dissemination depends upon the transfer and dissemination of technology. The course offers the foundations in law and economics of intellectual property rights, in particular patents and trade secrets, voluntary licensing and competition law, access to patent information and landscaping.
