Prof. Thomas Cottier, Senior Research Fellow, Professor Emeritus and former Managing Director of the World Trade Institute (WTI), was invited for a lecture on “The prospects of the India-EFTA Trade and Partnership Agreement (TEPA) and the relevance of WTO dispute settlement” at the Swiss Residence in Mumbai. The event was hosted by the Consulate General of Switzerland and the Swiss Business Hub India in Mumbai. The academic discussion covered the implications of the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) between the EFTA states and India. Prof. Cottier emphasised the remarkable success of concluding the TEPA in times with growing protectionistic tendencies and more industrial policies. He also stressed that the TEPA is built on WTO law. And he outlined the importance of multilateralism and the Multi-Party Interim Arbitration Arrangement (MPIA). The World Trade Institute warmly thanks Florin Müller, Head of the Swiss Business Hub India in Mumbai, and his team for the great event they organised in which many members of the Indian and Swiss business community in Mumbai participated.
