Know the Gap! team invited for its first collaborative workshop in Prague

For the occasion of the HRJust Intersect Observatory launch, the WTI’s Gender Team ‘Know the GAP!’ was invited to participate in a collaborative Workshop on Climate Litigation and Intersectionality with Civil Society Engagement. The retreat brought the WTI’s gender team to explore beautiful Prague and soak in its rich history.

The WTI’s gender team had the opportunity to visit in the footsteps of pioneering feminists in the streets of Prague by taking two tours around feminist themed landmarks. The tours were specific to Czech Women who paved the way for generations of women to come. An example of this pioneering spirit were the first women in mid 19th century who were given the permission to work as teachers and at the post office, at the time completely male dominated. Only, there was a catch. They had to choose between getting married and their right to work. They chose work.

In the workshop organized by Dr Federica Cristani at the Institute of International Relations Prague and Prof. Elisa Fornalé on Climate Litigation and the Intersectionality with Civil Society Engament, the gender team engaged in constructive exchanges on how to address gender gaps with human rights regulations and protection. The HRJust project plans to serve as underpinning data for recommendations to the EU in support of a multinational human rights system, as well as the promotion of transnational democratic governance.

After the workshop, the gender team and participants from the workshop, visited the OSCE Documentation Centre in Prague for a round table discussion about the important work of documenting information from the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe). As “the OSCE is a forum for political dialogue on a wide range of security issues and a platform for joint action to improve the lives of individuals and communities,” the documentation center in Prague also acts as a good place for research.

In the next weeks, the gender team will strengthen its collaboration with the HRJust Observatory by launching a new series of the well-known Gender Lectures! Stay tuned for more insight by viewing the WTI's events calendar.
