WTI researcher presents at the European Central Bank Legal Conference 2023
Dr Iryna Bogdanova from the WTI was a panellist at the European Central Bank Legal Conference 2023
This year, the ECB Legal Conference, entitled Treading softly: How central banks are addressing current global challenges has taken place on September 4 and 5, at the premises of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt.
Dr Iryna Bogdanova was one of the invited panellists there. She discussed the relationship between economic sanctions and the customary international law of state immunity, as well as touched upon the ongoing initiatives to confiscate russian central bank assets and potential implications for the central bank immunity.
The panel was chaired by the Director General of Directorate General Legal Services Chiara Zilioli. Along with Dr Iryna Bogdanova, Professor Ingrid (Würth) Brunk from Vanderbilt Law School, and Richard Ostrander, General Counsel of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York shared their views on the topic.
