2023 Global Conference of the Society of International Economic Law in Bogota, Colombia from 12 to 14 July.

The Society of International Economic Law (SIEL), of which the WTI Director of Studies, Prof Peter Van den Bossche, is the President, held in Bogota, Colombia, from 12 to 14 July their 2023 Global Conference on “International Economic Law in Times of Geo-Political Confrontation and Geo-Economic Fragmentation”.

In three keynote lectures, four roundtable discussions and 25 panel sessions, academics, trade officials and legal practitioners from all over the world reflected and debated on the present and future of international economic law and governance.

At the Opening Ceremony, the Rector of U. Externado de Colombia and the Dean of the Law Faculty of the Universidad del Rosario gave the keynote addresses. For the Closing Ceremony, SIEL was honoured to welcome the former President of Colombia, Ernesto Samper. 

In addition to Prof. em. Thomas Cottier, Dr. Rodrigo Polanco, who serves on the Executive Council of SIEL,  and Dr. Iryna Bogdanova, many WTI alumni and PhD students also attended, and spoke at, the Conference.
